10th International Course on Public Health Approaches to Noncommunicable Diseases 2025

The course focuses on prevention, surveillance and management of NCDs including mental health in the Indian, regional and global context. It will focus on sharing best practices and lessons from the experience of implementing NCD prevention and control program covering a wide variety of areas like health promotion, health system strengthening, quality improvement programs, multi-sectoral actions, surveillance etc. The faculty will include experts from international and national level and experienced program managers. Till date about 600 participants which includes Programme managers at state and district level, faculty from Medical colleges, post graduate community medicine students, master’s in public health students and public health professionals from almost every state of India and different regions of the world has been trained in these courses.

Objectives of the Course
- To explain the epidemiologic, socio-economic and demographic transitions fueling the rise in chronic, non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
- To discuss the evidence-base of different public health interventions for NCDs,
- To apprise about the global initiatives in the area of NCD prevention and control
- To identify and implement strategies for health system strengthening including workforce issues
- To strengthen capacity for monitoring the progress, research and evaluating NCD prevention and control policies and programmes
- To enable interaction between NCD program managers and public health experts in academic institutions
- To develop operational research protocols based on the concept notes from participants
Intended Participants
Program Managers at District/ Province/ State/ National level, Junior Faculty, Residents from Medical Colleges, Professionals from Non-Governmental Organizations from India and other countries and international organizations are targeted as prospective participants for the course. 100 participants will be chosen on a first come-first-served basis while ensuring diversity.
Expected Outcomes
- Effective implementation of National NCD Programs by Program Managers
- Improved teaching of NCDs in the medical colleges by junior faculty.
- Increase in Research Capacity on NCDs among junior faculty, Postgraduate MD and MPH students and Public health professionals.
Note: The International CME being held on 7th March 2025 is a part of the Course and registration for International is complimentary to those who register for the International NCD Course from 2nd -6th March 2025. The CME is mandatory for all the course participants to receive the course certificate
