This book, which is the official publication of World NCD Federation is perhaps the first comprehensive book on public health approaches to Noncommunicable Diseases which covers all aspects of prevention and control of NCDs mainly diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, COPD, cancer, stroke, chronic kidney diseases and mental health in national, regional and global context. The book is a single-stop resource for the programme managers, faculty and postgraduate students in Medical and Public Health schools. The book has been designed keeping in view the requirements of Global Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) agenda after UN high level meeting on NCD in 2011 with specific requirements of developing countries including India.

The book has methodically been divided the book into six sections, viz. Epidemiology and Impact of NCDs; Public Health Interventions; Health System: Key issues; Surveillance, Monitoring, Evaluation and Research; Multisectoral Actions and Integration; and Global, Regional and National Initiatives. The book has total of 29 chapters which covers all aspects of NCDs.

Until now, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) from public health perspective are not sufficiently emphasized upon in medical as well as nursing curriculum in many developing countries including India. This book will be helpful in facilitating the teachings of NCDs in the medical and public health schools and act as an important resource and standard text book for short NCD courses with a public health focus.
