About World NCD Federation (WNF)

The World NCD Federation (WNF) is a professional association dedicated to advancing the global health agenda for Universal Health Care (UHC) for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). WNF envisions a world where prevention, control, and management of NCDs are accessible, acceptable, equitable, and affordable for all, enabling both developed and developing countries to implement and sustain effective population-wide and individual clinical NCD interventions.

WNF was conceptualized in Chandigarh, the City Beautiful of India, and is registered under the Societies Registration Act of India. It was established by a group of visionary faculty members from the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, with the aim of promoting a strong public health approach towardsthe prevention, control, and management of NCDs at the global level.

The Federation was officially launched in Chandigarh in 2015 and came into formal existence on 7th March 2015, which is commemorated annually as the Foundation Day of the World NCD Federation.

Since its inception, WNF has been working towards strengthening global collaboration, generating evidence, promoting capacity building, supporting research and innovation, and advocating for policies and strategies that address the growing burden of NCDs worldwide.
