About the CME
Objectives of the CME: The objectives of the CME are to:
· Discuss the role of diet in prevention, control and management of NCDs thereby facilitating their reversal
• Discuss the evidence on reversal of NCDs
· Discuss the available evidence on role of diet on reversal/management/control/prevention in major NCDs
· Discuss the need for policy reforms towards agricultural practices, crop diversification, promoting the cultivation of foods affecting development of NCDs
· Discuss evidence on millets as potential solution to NCD menace
Key highlights:
· There will be thematic sessions on role of diet in prevention, control and management of NCDs: cancer, vascular diseases, diabetes, chronic kidney diseases, respiratory disorders and Panel discussion on dietary implications of NCD reversal
· Exhibition on Determinants of NCDs
Expected outcomes:
· Increased focus on NCD prevention using dietary management
· Promotion of research on role of diet on NCD reversal
· Investment of research bodies to strengthen evidence on role of millets as potential NCD fighter foods
· Policy interventions to promote healthier agricultural practices
Participants: Program Officers, Medical Officers in the NCD cell at state/district/sub-district level, private practitioners, faculty, resident doctors working in related departments of Community Medicine, Medicine, Cardiology, Pulmonary Medicine, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Neurology and Nursing Colleges.. The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi and started a course on Public Health Approaches to Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) under the aegis of World NCD Federation (WNF) in 2015.
This course is held alternatively at Chandigarh and New Delhi. Almost 50-60 professionals participate in the course each year.
